REMHub consortium meeting in Ljubljana.

REMHub partners met in Ljubljana to plan the next 24 months

The REMHub M24 consortium meeting took place in two parts. On 3 September, the work packages met online to share progress. On 16 to 18 September, partners met in person at the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Electrical Engineering. The project works to improve the security of rare earth supply in the EU, where about 90% of rare earth elements come from outside the Union.

The first day in Ljubljana was for work package workshops. Each work package drew up a working map for months 25 to 48. Topics included separating rare earths from low-concentration side streams, recycling routes for end-of-life NdFeB magnets and electric machines designed for easier magnet reuse. Cross-work-package sessions looked at the digital twin and the Digital Magnet Product Passport, and at how the project reaches stakeholders. Partners also visited laboratories at the University of Ljubljana.

On the second day, work package leads presented workshop results. IMI led a session on topics for the project’s co-creation workshops with external stakeholders. The REMHub platform had its soft launch, followed by a roundtable with Slovenian industry representatives and a presentation of SLOReeHub, the Slovenian rare earth recycling hub. Bilateral B2B meetings ran alongside.

The third day started with a workshop on the services the Hub platform could offer next. Sessions on communication, dissemination and exploitation and on project management followed, and the meeting ended with the General Assembly.
