REMHub brings 24 partners together to secure Europe's supply of rare earths and permanent magnets – from finding and recycling the raw materials to building the magnets, the people network and the innovation hub around them.
A short introduction to the project, its partners and its mission to secure Europe's rare-earth value chain.
The research and innovation that builds the value chain: exploring, recovering and recycling rare earths, then turning them into sustainable permanent magnets and electric machines.
Finds and unlocks new European sources of rare earths, applying advanced exploration tools and developing cost- and energy-efficient ways to process REE minerals – backed by sustainability analysis and geo-traceability.
Recovers rare earths from industrial and mining side streams that would otherwise be wasted – developing new materials and processes that cut environmental impact and quantify sustainability.
Recycles rare earths and valuable metals from end-of-life electronics and electric machines, building automated dismantling and novel separation technologies that deliver consistent, high-quality recycled materials.
Turns rare-earth materials – recycled, newly produced, or blended – into permanent magnets and the electric machines that use them, designed from the start for circularity (Re-X) and traced with a "magnet passport".
Connecting REMHub to the people and markets around it – engaging stakeholders, building the innovation hub, and sharing results through communication, dissemination and exploitation.
Builds understanding and trust around rare earths across the whole value chain – mapping stakeholders, running inclusive engagement with a penta-helix approach, raising public awareness, and helping align policy.
Creates the REMHub itself – a lasting innovation hub and digital platform that connects labs, pilots, services and end-users across Europe's REE value chain, with a business model and a training platform for future experts.
Shares REMHub's results with the world and turns them into impact – strategy, channels and materials for communication and dissemination, plus exploitation of results through IPR, commercialisation and education.
Coordinating the 24-partner consortium and keeping the whole project on track.
Keeps the 24-partner consortium running smoothly – coordinating the work, managing risk, tracking KPIs, and embedding ethical and data-management good practice across everything REMHub does.
